Tishomingo Wildlife Management Unit Images

Tishomingo Wildlife Management Unit is part of the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1946 to benefit migratory waterfowl in the Central Flyway and conserve America’s wildlife heritage. It is an overlay of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Denison Dam Project, also known as Lake Texoma. Tishomingo Wildlife Management Unit is approximately 3,700 acres in size.

The management unit offers excellent opportunities for wildlife and bird photography. The diverse habitats including river bottomlands, hardwood timber hillsides, agricultural fields, lakes, and ponds attract a variety of species. Waterfowl are usually present in good numbers when habitat conditions are favorable. Other species present include white-tailed deer, Rio Grande wild turkeys, rabbits, coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, and more.

Camping is allowed in 7 designated campsites within the Tishomingo Wildlife Management Unit. Camping provides opportunities to photograph wildlife at different times of day and night.
