By |May 31st, 2013|Categories: American Avocets, Antelope Island State Park, Birds, Coyotes, Utah, Wildlife|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

It was a fascinating experience to see and photograph this Coyote locating and eating the egg and I'm tickled to have witnessed the Coyote's egg carrying behavior plus once again I am very glad to have been in the right place at the right time.

By |May 1st, 2013|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, Box Elder County, Coyotes, Davis County, Midges, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Midges are an important food source for the birds that live and breed in the marshes and wetlands of Utah and they have recently begun to hatch.

Coyote on a snow-covered hillside

By |February 26th, 2013|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah, Wildlife|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Yesterday I spotted this lone Coyote walking in the snow on a hillside on Antelope Island State Park and stopped to take some images of it before it disappeared into the brush.

By |January 29th, 2013|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Birds, Chukars, Coyotes, Davis County, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Yesterday when I saw this running Chukar image on my camera LCD in mid-stride and mid-air I had to chuckle because it looks something like a feathered Nerf football some one tossed across the snow.

I dare the news to report on the senseless slaughter of Coyotes

By |January 18th, 2013|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Conservation, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I dare news agencies to write factual articles about the inhumane practice of slaughtering Coyotes which has been proven by science to be largely ineffective in controlling their population, to observe the Coyotes being blown up in their dens and to witness the suffering of these animals when they are caught in traps.

Coyote on a snowy morning

By |January 2nd, 2013|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

The weather forecast for yesterday was "mostly sunny" and once again the weather forecasters were wrong, at least for the period of time I was out photographing on Antelope Island State Park.

I wanted to share a few images taken two days ago when Antelope Island was covered with a fresh snow fall. The entire island looked glorious and the sunlight caused the snow to sparkle much to my delight.

Image Thieves – Copyright Violations

By |November 18th, 2012|Categories: Birds, Copyright Issues|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I am a photographer who is really sick and tired of Image Thieves. I am disgusted with people who do not consider our photographic "work" valuable and that it belongs to us.

An estimated 400,000 Coyotes are killed a year

By |November 2nd, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Conservation, Coyotes, Davis County, Utah, Wildlife Ethics & Etiquette|Tags: , , , , , |

For anyone interested in Coyote hunting reading this post you won't find any help as to where, when or how to do that on this blog, when I write about Coyote hunting is it about a Coyote HUNTING for its food. Got it?

Snow on Antelope Island and more Coyotes

By |October 26th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I've wanted to capture images of a Coyote in blowing snow for a while now and I did get the chance yesterday, I really wish the foreground vegetation hadn't been in the way of a clear view of the Coyote.

Winter’s First Snow

By |October 25th, 2012|Categories: American Barn Owls, Antelope Island State Park, Bald Eagles, Birds, Coyotes, Davis County, Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, Great Blue Herons, Mallards, Prairie Falcons, Salt Lake County, Utah, White-crowned Sparrows|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

As I write this the first snow of winter is falling outside my living room window. For the past week I have seen the snow on the mountain tops and I had been looking forward to seeing the snow covering the Salt Lake Valley.

You’ll never know unless you go

By |October 8th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Birds, Coyotes, Prairie Falcons, Red-tailed Hawks, Utah, Western Meadowlarks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Kind a of a crazy title but it is a mantra that I live by when it comes to my bird and nature photography. It simply means that unless I go out shooting I won't know what I am missing.

Coyote after an early morning swim?

By |September 24th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I'm not exactly sure why this Coyote was wet but it had to have been from the water of the Great Salt Lake because the Coyote was along the causeway to Antelope Island, a couple miles from the park entrance and a couple to the island itself.

Coyote Pup in Prairie Grasses

By |August 12th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

I simply could not resist posting this gorgeous Coyote pup that I photographed today even though I posted another one recently. I loved the look the pup was giving me, the warm, beautiful morning light and wonderful prairie setting.

By |April 18th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Davis County, Killdeer, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Last week I wrote about Long-billed Curlews having a Territorial Encounter but earlier that same morning I had another wonderful photographic encounter thanks to a scruffy looking, rain soaked Coyote waking up at the top of a ridge.

Side lit Coyote

By |March 24th, 2012|Categories: Coyotes, Davis County, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Last November I spotted this Coyote wandering in some dried vegetation close to a roadside. Although the lighting wasn't optimal; meaning the sun wasn't directly behind me, I wanted to take some photos of the Coyote because I liked the rim lighting on the right side of the Coyote's neck, muzzle and ears.

Feathers & Fur

Today I thought I would post a few images taken this past week from Antelope Island State Park and the west desert in Tooele County. Feathers & Fur.

More Coyote Fun

By |January 9th, 2012|Categories: Antelope Island State Park, Coyotes, Utah|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Last week I posted some fun images of a Coyote with Falcon leftovers taken along the shoreline of the Great Salt Lake with piles of ice in the background. Six days later, on January 1st, I had more fun with a Coyote in almost the same location.
