- Roseate Spoonbills are large, pink wading birds with bald heads and long legs and bills that end with spoon shape at the tip.
- Roseate Spoonbills are found throughout southern Florida up the Gulf Coast into Louisiana, Texas, the Gulf and Pacific Coast of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. Some Roseate Spoonbills migrate.
- Roseate Spoonbills eat insects, crustaceans, fish and some plant materials.
- Roseate Spoonbills lay 1 to 5 eggs which hatch in 22 to 24 days. Both sexes incubate and they are monogamous.
- Nicknames for Roseate Spoonbills include Flame Bird, Banjo-bill, Pink Curlew, Pink, Pinkie and Spoonie.
- A group of Roseate Spoonbills is called a “bowl” of spoonbills.
- Roseate Spoonbills can live to be more than 15 years of age.
