Raccoon Images, Facts and Information:

- Raccoons are medium sized mammals with dark facial masks, grayish fur and ringed tails.
- Raccoons are omnivorous, they eat fish, aquatic invertebrates, terrestrial invertebrates, bird eggs, nestling birds, young mammals, amphibians, acorns, fruits, nuts, worms, berries, grasshoppers, crickets, grubs and because they are opportunistic they will also consume garbage and pet foods that are left outdoors.
- Original habitats for raccoons included deciduous and mixed forests, wetland habitats and wooded streams. They are now often found in cities, suburbs and rural areas such as farmlands.
- Raccoons can live up to 20 years in captivity but in the wild they live about 3 years.
- Raccoons have litters of two to five young. The young are called cubs.
