The Stories Behind My Images
Great Blue Heron’s Gift
In January in Florida the Great Blue Herons are already going into breeding plumage and have begun courtship displays and have started building their nests.
Red-tailed Hawk juvenile in low light conditions
In the winter I shoot a lot in fog, smog and low light conditions here in northern Utah but if you follow my blog you probably already know that and have heard me mention it a time or two (or four or a hundred).
Great Egret foraging the wrack line
Five years ago today I photographed this Great Egret foraging in a wrack line along the Gulf of Mexico in Florida at Fort De Soto.
Ring-necked Pheasants ~ A splash of color in a field of white
Male Ring-necked Pheasants add a vivid splash of color against a field of white at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, I photographed this male a few days ago as it foraged in the snow.
Ring in the New – Happy New Year 2014
2013 was a busy, productive although sometimes frustrating year. I spent lots of time camping, immersing myself in nature, photographing birds, animals and scenery.
Seeing the tail end…
Seeing the tail end... of 2013 on this last day of December.
The Stories Behind My Images
Rocky Mountain Bee Plant & Monarch Butterfly In Flight
Photographing birds while they are flying can be challenging and photographing Monarch Butterflies in flight can be just as challenging to do too.
Adult Ring-billed Gull Hovering Over The Marsh At Farmington Bay
I photographed this Ring-billed Gull last November as it hovered over the autumn colored marsh and I really like the resulting photo. The pose, the light, the setting, the contrast in colors all work well for my tastes.
Juvenile Burrowing Owl VS a Juvenile Peregrine Falcon
Eight years ago today I didn't know that it would be the last time I'd photograph the Burrowing Owl family together and that a juvenile Peregrine Falcon would have a part in that.
Fleeting Moments With An Immature Black-chinned Hummingbird
Two days ago I had a few fleeting moments with an immature Black-chinned Hummingbird that flew in and landed close to me and I relished every second with it.
