The Stories Behind My Images
Utah Fox Squirrel Close Ups
I didn't have to travel far to take close-up photos of this Fox Squirrel. In fact, I photographed the squirrel when I got home from checking out my local pond.
Another Scrub-Jay Name Change in 2024
Lately, I've been wondering what the new name for the Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay species, that I photograph here in Utah, will be when it is changed in 2024.
Adult Golden Eagle On The Wing
Back in November of 2017, I took this photo of an adult Golden Eagle flying past a ridge in Box Elder County. I'm not sure why I never shared it until today.
Low Light American Robin
When I photographed this American Robin perched in a crabapple tree last winter the light was low, the sky was cloudy, and there was snow on the ground.
Immature Pied-billed Grebe Being Chased And Other Grebe Behaviors
Last week, I photographed an immature Pied-billed Grebe being chased by an adult at my local pond. I observed some other interesting grebe behaviors as well.

Snow is supposed to start falling around 10 a.m. where I live in northern Utah. It might be the first significant snowfall of this winter down in the valley.
The Stories Behind My Images
Curbside Mourning Dove
On this chilly spring morning, I am sharing a curbside Mourning Dove that I photographed at one of my local parks three days ago, when it was warmer.
Female Great-tailed Grackle With Her Eyes Aglow
When I was at my local pond two days ago, I couldn't resist photographing a female Great-tailed Grackle whose eyes seemed to be aglow in the morning light.
Spring American Robin Portraits
I was able to get outdoors and into the sunshine yesterday. I visited my local pond and took a series of American Robin portraits at the edge of the water.
Save Owls By Not Using Rodent Poisons
Since spring's arrival, people will be spending time outdoors, and more people will be seeing rats in their yards and gardens. Owls eat rats and other rodents.
