The Stories Behind My Images
Dark Morph Ferruginous Hawk On The Hunt In The West Desert
It has been a long time since I had a dark morph Ferruginous Hawk in my view finder so when I spotted it hovering over a field I knew I had to stop and get photos of it.
Resting Ruddy Duck In A Fog

Northern Shoveler, The Rising Sun And Fog

Eurasian Collared-Doves
When I first moved to Utah in 2009 I saw very few Eurasian Collared-Doves but now I see them in many locations and sometimes in large numbers.
Foraging Red-breasted Nuthatch On A Chilly November Morning
If I get a single image, like this foraging Red-breasted Nuthatch feeding on the seeds of a Douglas Fir tree, I am happy.
The Trumpeter Swan I Couldn’t Rescue
As I look at this Trumpeter Swan photo and see my Jeep reflected in its eyes I feel a sense of loss. I know that I won't forget the swan that I couldn't rescue.
The Stories Behind My Images

Yellow Warbler Photographed In A Smoky Haze
Yesterday morning the second bird I photographed was a Yellow Warbler on an old branch in a smoky haze high in the Wasatch Mountains.
Spotted Sandpiper Chick Photos
I haven't seen any Spotted Sandpiper chicks in a location in the Wasatch Mountains where I normally see them at this time of the year but I have these from last summer.
Franklin’s Gull Feasting On Brine Flies Plus News About The Great Salt Lake
While Franklin's Gulls are in northern Utah for their breeding season brine flies are an important food source for the adults and their young and are a part of their breeding success here in the Great Basin.
