Losing my mother last year taught me some lessons when I dealt with clearing out her apartment of 25 years. I had to get her apartment cleared out within a two-week period because she had been placed in hospice.
I worked very hard at getting that done because my mother was a pack rat, or as she corrected me, a collector. She wasn’t a hoarder, but her collector tendencies were strong.
I did what was needed, and I was honored that my mother trusted me to get it done, plus I got it done on time with some help of my niece and bonus grandsons.
But I do have to say that it was exhausting, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I set my emotions aside throughout that period because I didn’t have time to deal with all the emotions that were coursing through me.
Today, almost 10 months later, I am still struggling with some of those emotions.
That brings me to the reason for what I am doing. I don’t want my sons to go through what I went through, so I have been sorting, donating, giving away, and essentially clearing things out of my life that I don’t need or want anymore so my sons won’t have that burden.
I am offering these items for sale locally because I don’t need them anymore, and I would like to find them good homes.
Local only, I will not ship.
Maybe you know of someone local who would love these items; feel free to share the link.
Life is good, and so is lightening the load on my shoulders and, in the future, these are things my sons won’t need to concern themselves with.
And before anyone asks, I am fine, I’m healthy, nothing is wrong with me. I plan on living a long life. I just want to let go of “stuff” now.

I am offering this antique side table for sale. It has been in my mother’s side of the family for many, many years. I’ve moved it more times than I care to remember in the last 22 years.
The table has what my maternal grandmother called a soapstone top which is about 20 inches in width and about 28 inches in length. The side table is approximately 29 inches tall and 17 inches in width at the base.
The photo with the white circle shows a small chip in the stone. It could easily be fixed with epoxy but it is a tiny chip that never bothered me.

The stone table top is very heavy. I wish I could have moved it out from the corner to get better light on it.
I am asking $75.00 for this antique side table.

Next is a set of vintage bone china made by Sone from Japan. It was purchased in the early 1970’s as part of the “Hope Chest” my mother planned for me.
There are 12 dinner plates, 12 sandwich plates, 12 cake plates. It has two large platters with one being slightly smaller than the largest. The large one holds a large turkey or ham. There is one slightly deeper dish than the platters and a gravy boat. The set also has 12 soup/salad bowls, 12 coffee/tea cups, and 12 saucers that go with them.
This set has been in boxes since I left Virginia in 2001. The photos are not mine but they represent this lovely green pattern of this fine china.
This set is not microwaveable because there is gold on the rims of all the pieces.
This china dinner set was perfect for holidays when my home was overflowing with people. As a military wife, when my family lived overseas, I always invited single service members for holiday dinners and this set of vintage china handled it all, including large family dinners when I lived close to family in Virginia.
Easter is next Sunday. Are you having a bunch of people over for Easter dinner? This set of china might be just what you need for the holidays!
I don’t entertain many people anymore, this set needs to find a good home where it will be used.
I’m asking $100.00 for this set.
