Corvus ossifragus
- Fish Crows are medium sized crows with black bodies and heavy dark bills. Sexes are similar.
- Fish Crows are nonmigratory. Fish Crows are resident on the Atlantic coast from Massachusetts south to Florida and along the Gulf Coast west to Texas. The can also be found inland along larger rivers. Fish Crows prefer low coastal areas, tidewater, pine barrens, lakes, and swamps.
- Fish Crows eat carrion, garbage, marine invertebrates, fruits, seeds, bird eggs and nestlings.
- Fish Crows lay 3 to 4 eggs which hatch in 16 to 18 days. Both sexes incubate and they are monogamous.
- A group of crows can be called a “congress”, “horde”, “cauldron”, “muster” or “murder” of crows.
- Fish Crows can live to be at least 14 years old.
