Farmington Bay WMA

Farmington Bay WMA Information:

  • Farmington Bay WMA is located west of I-15 near the town of Farmington in Davis County, Utah.
  • Farmington Bay WMA began life as Farmington Bay State Park in the 1930s, when the Utah State Department of Fish and Game (now the State Division of Wildlife Resources) sought to transform the delta of the Jordan River into a wildlife refuge.
  • Farmington Bay WMA is an 18,000 acre migratory bird refuge on the shore of the Great Salt Lake.
  • The George and Dolores Eccles Wildlife Education Center is on the Robert Hasenyager Great Salt Lake Nature Reserve next to the Farmington Bay WMA.
  • Farmington Bay WMA provides great opportunities for bird and wildlife photography throughout the year although access south of Goose Egg Island is restricted from March through around the middle of September.
  • Geese, ducks, owls, raptors, shorebirds, wading birds, perching birds and more can be seen easily while using a vehicle as a mobile blind. There are also mammals, insects and wildflowers that can be photographed as well as great scenic views.
