• Carolina Chickadees are small birds with a distinctive black cap and bib, white cheeks, and gray back and wings. They have a short, stubby bill and a long tail. Males and females look alike.
• Carolina Chickadees are nonmigratory.  Carolina Chickadees are found in the southeastern United States, from southern New Jersey to Florida and west to eastern Texas and Oklahoma.
• Carolina Chickadees primarily eat insects, spiders, and other invertebrates, but they will also eat seeds and berries, especially in the winter when insects are scarce. They forage in trees and shrubs, often hanging upside down to reach their prey.
• Carolina Chickadees typically lay 5 to 8 eggs, which take about 12 to 13 days to hatch. Both sexes incubate the eggs, and both parents feed the chicks. Carolina Chickadees can have up to two broods per year.
• A group of chickadees can be called a “banditry” or a “dissimulation” of chickadees.
• Carolina Chickadees live as long as 11 years.
