Yesterday, Steve told me to grab my camera. I did, and within a minute, I had a Baird’s Pocket Gopher in my viewfinder—one with a wonderfully clear view.

Some of the pocket gopher images I’m sharing today were picked simply because they made me laugh. Lately, I’ve felt the need to laugh a lot more. You might be feeling that way too, and if you are, I hope these funny photos do the trick.

Some of the photos I picked because of the wonderful views I had of this hard-to-photograph, underground-dwelling, furry gopher.

But mostly, I picked the ones that made me laugh. Doesn’t this pocket gopher look like it should have a speech bubble next to it with a funny saying?

Something like:

  • “Did you bring snacks, or am I gonna have to dig up my own?!”
  • “You wouldn’t believe the drama happening underground today!”
  • “Who said ‘whack-a-mole’?! I will not stand for this slander!”

Or maybe something like:

  • “I came out for some sunshine, and all I got was this weird human staring at me!”
  • “I was told there’d be free WiFi up here.”
  • “What do you mean, ‘stop eating the garden’?! That’s literally my job!”

I know I had a marvelous time photographing this Baird’s Pocket Gopher yesterday—it made for a great morning!

Life is good.
