I haven’t been seeing many squirrels since the temps started dropping below freezing at night. When this Fox Squirrel showed up, I was happy to photograph them.

It was chilly that morning—I could definitely feel the frost in the air. Even the fluffed-up Fox Squirrel seemed cold. While I’m waiting on the delivery of a new winter jacket myself, the squirrel will adapt just fine to the colder weather.
The cold here feels different from what I had gotten used to in Utah—there’s definitely more humidity in the air. My new, heavy jacket will help me adjust.
Life is good.

Magnificent! The detail, colors, and eye contact are simply wonderful. Thanks Mia.
The fox squirrels don’t seem to hibernate in my area of Utah but the American Red Squirrels do. I have not seen one since the cold snap and snow in November.
Such a cutie.
I love their coloring. So much more interesting to look at.
