I spent years being Blue Jay deprived, so I am really relishing seeing, hearing, and photographing them now. Having Blue Jays in my viewfinder is truly a joy!

Even simple photos of these striking jays are a treat for me. This jay gave me a head on look at the end of last month. She or he did seem to be giving me the look when I had them in my viewfinder.

The jays here have been a bit more skittish since they finished raising their young; I’m really not sure why. That does make them a bit harder to photograph, but I’m up for the challenge.

I believe that once colder weather settles in and food becomes scarcer, the jays will lose some of their skittishness. They behaved that way in my garden in Virginia.

In the meantime; I’ll simply enjoy having them in my viewfinder whenever they offer me the chance to take their photos.

Life is good.

Mia
