I was pretty busy yesterday morning, but at about 10:46, I had a great deal of fun photographing a bathing Northern Mockingbird who sent water droplets flying.

I haven’t had time to go through all of my images of this bathing Northern Mockingbird yet, but this one cracked me up, and I wanted to share it. When I look at the photo, I can’t help but giggle.

This Northern Mockingbird bathed with wild abandon, and the water droplets flew everywhere. I’ve been hoping for an image like this since spring, and now I have the photos I wanted.

It might just be me, but the mockingbird doesn’t really look all that happy about bathing. I’m anthropomorphizing, of course.

The mockingbird probably enjoyed the bath. It was already hot by the time I took images of her or him—hot enough that I didn’t stay outside much after the mockingbird flew off.

Unlike northern Utah, Northern Mockingbirds are year-round residents here. Maybe later, I will get photos of one in the snow. Now that would be great too!

Life is good.
