Happy Sunday! Today I am sharing one Red-bellied Woodpecker male up close photo that I took two days ago just because I like the image of the woodpecker.

And why wouldn’t I?
This particular male Red-bellied Woodpecker is sometimes skittish about coming to the suet feeder. When he does come in, I feel honored by his presence.
I like the way his bill is barely open, the clear view of his feet, and how he turned his head for a few frames. The striking black-and-white feather pattern on his legs and back contrasts nicely with his creamy throat and belly, as well as the reddish plumage on his head.
These Red-bellied Woodpeckers are year-round residents here. I am looking forward to photographing them with fall colors, and perhaps even some snow or frost, in the future.
Life is good.
