Today I am sharing a Tufted Titmouse video that I created early yesterday morning, showing the bird working hard to get a sunflower seed out of its shell.

It is a short clip, but I enjoyed watching the Tufted Titmouse in action. The titmouse raised and lowered its crest, pounded on the sunflower seed shell, and ducked when another titmouse flew by.

In the video, I can hear other birds in the background, including the chirping of a hummingbird, a Northern Cardinal, the mournful call of a Mourning Dove, and more.

The small amount of additional noise was from me moving my hand to try and look at the nearby hummingbird. I need to remember not to do that when I am taking videos!

I thought I’d share a photo I took earlier this spring of a Tufted Titmouse bathing as a bonus. I really like the flying water droplets and the intense look in the titmouse’s eye. She or he seemed to be really serious about their bath.

I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing, hearing, and photographing this species again. I didn’t realize how very much I had missed this species until last year when I visited Arkansas. Now I get to see them every day! What fun.

Life is good.
