I took these photos of a Fox Squirrel when the squirrel came in to enjoy a nice drink of water at my friend Steve’s Creek’s bird bath in his yard in Arkansas.

I was thrilled to have this squirrel so close that I could capture close-up portraits of it as it sipped water from the bird bath. Watching the squirrel through my viewfinder was a delight. The squirrel kept an eye on Steve and I as we sat quietly on his deck.
I know some people don’t like squirrels, and truthfully, they can make a mess at bird feeders, but I really enjoy watching them. They can be so much fun and their playful antics often make me laugh out loud.

This Fox Squirrel was focused on quenching their thirst, no funny antics, just a squirrel being a squirrel. I love the reflections of the trees and Steve’s home in the squirrels eyes.
I’m hoping I will have many more opportunities with these Fox Squirrels and perhaps even the Southern Flying Squirrels in the months to come. I haven’t seen a flying squirrel since I left Virginia in 2001.
Life is good.
