There were swirling clouds enveloping some of the snow-covered peaks of the Wasatch Mountains yesterday morning. I felt simply compelled to take a few photos.

I had my bird gear with me. In hindsight, I wish I had also taken my backup Nikon D810 with my 18-200mm lens for wider views of the mountains.
I still wanted photos of the snowy mountain peaks, clouds, and sky, so I used my long lens and photographed the mountains from inside my Jeep.
It was lovely to see sunshine for a change. This January has been mostly cloudy and gray here at home, but with very little snow in the valley. It hasn’t been a great month for getting out into the field with the birds.
I don’t mind photographing in falling snow or heavy fog; in fact, I love those conditions for my bird photography. But just plain gray, cloudy days? Not so much.
I am glad that the mountain ranges are getting much needed snow and moisture.
Life is good.

Gorgeous pic! If it stays cold perhaps February will be more bountiful than January. Thanks Mia.
Beautiful scenery. Gives me some more context to know about the landscape you’re in!
Thanks for the vision of home from Manila, Php. Even though the weather here has been surprisingly temperate, I am so so homesick for Utah weather and clean snow and hoodies. Manila is very very urban. I am missing ravens, magpies, murmurations and quiet.
Life IS beautiful, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Beautiful images. The last couple of days have been beautiful. I agree I love snow or sometimes rain if heavy creating visible rain in photos or waterfalls, the dark gray days are not so much fun. I will take fog though!
Lovely. I am so glad that some areas at least are getting much needed moisture.
Beautiful reminder of the water all the land is receiving this season!
Beautiful!! This January has been full of 3D days (dark, dreary, damp) in Niagara too.
Really beautiful!-Jeri S.
