The last time I went up to Bear River MBR, I photographed this male Red-winged Blackbird crooner singing loud and strong.

I adore hearing males Red-winged Blackbirds singing in the marshes and wetlands surrounding the Great Salt Lake. Their song is true delight for my ears.
I picked this photo to share because it made me laugh. It really is as simple as that. The head on, wings puffed out, wide open bill posture is 100% pure bird. I think humans imitate birds more often than we acknowledge, only in the case of birds it isn’t about ego like it can be with humans.
That is one reason I love birds so much. There is nothing fake about them.
Life is good.

Powerful and vivid. Great shot. Thanks Mia.
Stunning.
I too like watching birds, a lot, but I’m not so sure about the lack of ego when I see the way the males in my yard behave. In fact how the females treat each other sometimes too sooo … ? None of them is a red-wing blackbird however so … maybe this one was indeed singing just for the joy of it.
