The flowers of fall have started to bloom. I don’t know which species of asters are in these photos that I took at Farmington Bay. They might even be fleabanes which are still in the aster family. Asters are a species of wildflower I expect to see as fall arrives.

Temps are finally dropping, days are shorter, and autumn is on the way.

This summer has been miserable and one with record high temps. Not just now and then, but for days on end. We had 34 days over 100°F and a stretch of them for 9 days in a row in September. The 34 days that were over 100°F shattered the old record of 21 days for the year.

Plus it has been dry. In some areas, I have never seen it dryer since I moved here in 2009. It has been a miserable summer here in northern Utah.

I am not sad to see the end of this summer. I’m over it. Instead, I am looking forward to feeling chilled along with finding and celebrating the birds of fall and winter.

Yes. The summer of 2022 can kiss my asters.

Life is good.
