Rain storm over Red Rock Lakes NWR – Nikon D200, f18, 1/80, ISO 400, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 18mm, natural light
There have been periods in my life when I felt as if I was inside of a dark, threatening storm that seemed it would never end both figuratively and literally. I’ve been through back to back hurricanes and tropical storms and believe me, those felt like they would never end.
There are times when I feel as if I am riding out a storm due to circumstances or events that are out of my control I remind myself that all storms come to an end.
That is the optimist in me.
Dissipating clouds over Bear River MBR – Nikon D810, f11, 1/1250, ISO 500, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 18mm, natural light
No matter how hard the wind blows, how much rain or snow falls, how many trees come down, or how many shingles blow off of the roof, those storms break up, dissipate, disappear or move on.

And the sky clears up for smoother sailing ahead. Today I needed to remind myself of that simple fact with thoughts and photos.
Then I go out looking for birds, at times I do that before the storm even ends because…
Life is good.

Lovely photos and a very timely message for me. Gorgeous!
Thank you for the timely reminder. ❤️
Beautiful Landscapes!
That first picture is very dramatic. I went camping this summer and that storm, or series of storms lasted all night. Love the colour in the second image, there is something about gold and blue, maybe because those two colours are split complimentaries. And the third, so calm. Made my day.
I’ve said it before…your landscape pics are as compelling and beautiful as any I have ever seen. Move over Ansel Adams! Thanks Mia.
Beautiful work, Mia. Some of my best landscapes come from the refuges.
Thank you for this beautifully illustrated reminder. Which I needed today.
Keep rthe faith and stay safe!
Yes, Mia. I add my thanks. A significant improvement in my interior landscape taking place! Your images make a wonderful visual for the feelings.
I feel very much the same. Life just seems to be throwing all of us curveballs, and one of these days, I’m going to be hitting that ball right out of the park! In the meantime, as the bleak days seem to be never ending, I go outside, as you do, and look for the beauty and goodness that is just around the corner.
Mia – I loved this post! So applicable to the times we are living in, between politics and Covid-19, but so true that it all shall pass, if every day had blue skies & sunshine, we would start to take it for granted. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other, moving forward. Photo 1 stormy, photo 2 brilliant color, photo 3 muted landscape……all beautiful.
