American Goldfinch hanging upside down to feed on wild sunflower seeds – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/2500, ISO 640, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
I feel a little like this American Goldfinch this morning, meaning I feel like I am upside down because of issues on my web site that started just after I woke up at o’dark hundred. My site has been bouncing up and down all morning much the same as this goldfinch was when it was trying to feed on the seeds of a wild sunflower in a breeze at Farmington Bay WMA a few weeks ago. Up and down while upside down.
This American Goldfinch is in its winter plumage which is a heck of a lot duller than they look in breeding plumage but they are still beautiful birds.
This isn’t the post I had planned but it will have to do.
I still don’t know what the issue is even after calling the hosting provider so even if I get this post published it might still bounce up and down for a while. Or it might look really strangely formatted, at this point I just hope I can press the “Publish” button and that it will work.
So… if you are reading this, I am glad this post got published. Trying to work on this post this morning has been like trying to work with a belligerent, drunken yo yo.
Life is good even when it throws you a curve ball.

I had no problem at all. Works great! And your birds are always a cheerful subject to learn about.
I love the upside down shot. I sometimes feel like that.
Sorry about the problems. And have a wonderful Holiday.
Format is normal. Bird is upside down! I’m having trouble visualizing a “belligerent, drunken yo yo.” I hope you get the issue resolved quickly.
It looks just fine – and I do love the upside down charmer.
Sigh on technology. Wonderful stuff – until is isn’t.
Even knowing the bird is not heavy ( 0.4-0.7 oz (11-20 g) I’m amazed how that twig can hold it.
Good news from this side of the pond.I Your post arrived perfectly well.
Thanks they are cute pretty birds.
Thanks for sharing that wonderful image, despite the difficulties!
I couldn’t get into your blog via it coming through my email. It kept coming up “error”. I have come in “from outside” to your website. No photo though, although there is a photo which I clicked on to come into your blog. Hang in there…..much like the American Goldfinch is doing.
