Chipmunk Fun – Nikon D500, f13, 1/640, ISO 640, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
I can’t come up with a funny, kid-friendly caption for this Least Chipmunk photo and I am hoping that someone seeing it here on my blog can.
“I asked for berries and this is what I got.”
“What am I? A coat rack?”
“The tail of two chipmunks.”
Those captions just don’t seem funny enough.
These two chipmunks were photographed being playful yesterday in the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah. The Least Chipmunks had been chasing each other around on a low leafless shrub and then this happened, the tail of the upper chipmunk rested on the head of the other chippie for exactly two frames. I’m glad that I was taking a long burst of the two chipmunks interacting or I would have missed being able to take and share this photo.
I have a nice series of images of these two chipmunks and I will probably share more of them sometime during a gray day this coming winter when I am missing these little fuzzballs and their antics like crazy.
Life is good.

One chipmunk trumps the other…
First Chipmunk: Hey look! Here comes Mia!
Second Chipmunk: Oh God. How does my hair look?
Ok…Ok…gimmie a couple martinis and I’ll do better.
Great pics Mia.
Love the tail of two chipmunks.
Here’s your hat, now hurry?
A tail of two chipmunks made me giggle-snort! Good one! 🙂
Chippie. Chippie Crockett. King of the wild frontier.
Although, the slightly irritated, slightly bemused look makes me think this isn’t the first time…
Really? Can’t you wait till I leave the area!
LOL, I like that Dick!
