Warbling Vireo perched in willows – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/1600, ISO 500, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
Yesterday I was delighted when I spotted a Warbling Vireo at the top of some nearby willows and that the vireo stayed long enough for me to take a few photos of it. Back in June I wrote that I saw a Warbling Vireo in the High Uintas that was so close to me that I practically could have reached out and touched it but couldn’t get a photo because at first it was too close for my long lens and then when it moved I would have had to have taken photos through the windshield of my Jeep.
This Warbling Vireo wasn’t as close as the one I saw singing in the High Uintas in June and I wish it had been a little closer but I like the setting, the over the shoulder look I got from the vireo and having the sky in the background.
I started seeing more vireos about this time last year and I hope that is the case this year too because I’d like to add more images of them to my portfolios before they migrate.
Life is good.

Love the coy over-the-shoulder glance!
I do love the small (and to many insignificant) birds you show us. Many, many thanks.
This is great to see, a lovely bird with a pleasant song.
