Adult Snowy Egret in flight over the green marsh at Bear River MBR
Sometimes the simplicity of an image is what draws me in and keeps me happily satisfied with it and that is what I enjoy about this photo of a Snowy Egret in flight over the marsh at Bear River MBR, the simplicity.
It is just a bird in flight with the lush green colors of the marsh behind it yet it pleases me and soothes me at the same time. It also reminds me of the peace and solitude I find at the refuge when I am out there on my own.
Oh, and the one water droplet behind the egret’s golden feet is an added gem.
I see far more Snowy Egrets at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge than I do Great Egrets but I get excited every time I see either species. Okay, that applies to all birds not just these two egret species. I love birds.
Life is good.

Excellent image. As a stamp collector I think of what a desirable postage stamp this would make!
WHOA! What a stunning pic! I love the contrast and detail you captured. Gorgeous shot Mia. Thanks.
Nothing ‘just’ about the shot or the bird.
Simply, sublimely stupendous.
Fantastic capture Mia!
I can never get enough of these birds…and this is one of the best I’ve seen…..
ooooo I agree.
I was struck by the symmetry between the black bill, yellow lores and black legs and yellow feet.
Nature is the finest artist of all….
Fantastic shot!
Wow!!
Those long black legs always surprise me, even though I know they’re there. This is a gem of a shot!
