Uinta Ground Squirrel damped by dew – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/1600, ISO 500, -0.3 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
I’m sharing two Uinta Ground Squirrel photos taken two days ago a canyon in the Wasatch Mountains, one adult that was wet from the morning dew and one baby that was just outside of its burrow. Most of the adult squirrels were wet from dew on the grasses, some were very wet and some were barely wet. This one had a wet nose, chest, paws and wet cheeks and tiny droplets of water on its muzzle.
Baby Uinta Ground Squirrel near its burrow – Nikon D810, f6.3, 1/2000, ISO 500, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 170mm, natural light
I had the chance to photograph a baby Uinta Ground Squirrel but it was so close to my Jeep that I couldn’t use my long lens, instead I had to use my D810 with the 18-200mm lens attached. It was such a cute little thing and my mother got a kick out of seeing it.
How is that for keeping this post short & sweet?
Life is good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mia’s momma! You’re only one year older than I am….love the way you’re celebrating…with Mia the Marvelous (aka Eagle Eyes McPherson). That lttle Ground squirrel is so cute, but live eveything about the first image, too…coposition, setting, details of squirrel, info…great shot (as usual)…
