Yellow-rumped Warbler with prey – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/1600, ISO 500, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
I had a completely different post planned for this morning but after turning on the news while brewing my coffee and seeing what happened last night in Las Vegas and now worrying about people I know and love that live in Vegas I am keeping this simple.
A few days ago I photographed a Yellow-rumped Warbler at a pond close to home that was tossing its prey around before it consumed it. The prey seems to be a small fly of some kind that the warbler had caught before it landed on this branch. Watching them hawking from the branches of this tree has been fascinating.
I’m sorry, this is about all I have to say today. I hurt for all the people involved in this horrible tragedy.

Thank you. A gorgeous bird and yet another senseless tragedy.
A little bit of sunshine–even if it is on his butt! Such a senseless act. My heart aches for all of the victims and their families.
😥
I needed the sanity of a yellow-rumped warbler this morning. Thank you.
