Stormy Skies over Montana – Nikon D810, f7.1, 1250, ISO 320, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 22mm, natural light
I’m camping in Idaho but visited part of Beaverhead County, Montana yesterday under stormy skies, with lightning flashing and spritzes of rain. The worst part of the storm was north of where I was but I did see some dramatic skies. I’ve missed Montana.
Because of the weather I didn’t take many bird photos yesterday but sometimes it isn’t about the photos, sometimes it is just being there, soaking up the views, enjoying the smells and hearing the sounds of nature.
The weather is supposed to be a bit clearer today, I hope so and I also hope to spot some birds to put my lens on.
Life is good. Nature makes it better.

Moody magnificence.
Thank you – and enjoy.
Oh SO beautiful! Similar to Arizona skies, but slightly different. Wild is good!
I’d love to have a book of just your cloudscapes…ypu’ve captured so many beautiful and interesting ones…rain brings out such wonderful, intense colors and smells. Have a great trip…
Beautiful “big sky country”…defined by its diverse terrain ranging from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Plains. Its wide-open spaces include Glacier National Park, a vast wilderness preserve that passes into Canada. Glad I got to see the park from both sides of the border before all the glaciers are gone. Looking forward to more of your beautiful images Mia.
Montana – God’s country.
