Male Red-tailed Hawk on a lichen-covered perch on a windy day – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/1250, ISO 400, Nikkor 500mm with 1.4x TC, natural light, not baited
I overslept this morning so this is not at all the post I had planned to do, for some reason my alarm didn’t go off when it should have.
Yesterday morning was supposed to be mostly sunny according to the forecast and from what it looked like on the radar it looked like it was going to be nice. Surprise… it wasn’t. It was windy, cloudy and not a great day for bird photography because the wind seemed to keep most of the birds down or aloft and soaring but too far away.
I was able to point my lens at this male Red-tailed Hawk on a lichen-covered perch for a few frames before he flew away. I am always grateful for days when I can get even one photograph of these beautiful hawks and this one pleased me with his presence yesterday on a gray, windy morning.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Life is good.
