Young Burrowing Owl on a post – Nikon D810, f8, 1/500, ISO 400, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light, not baited
When I need to smile, nature helps with that. If I am out in the field I have the birds, the scenery, the earthy scents and the sky that help me smile. It is easier to relax when I am surrounded by the great outdoors and all the creatures in it.
One of the birds that always make me smile are young Burrowing Owls because they are so darn cute and expressive even when they are just standing still.
Two years ago in July I photographed this young Burrowing Owl on a post in morning light and I relaxed and let a smile form on my lips. It was the first bird I photographed that morning and after a 90 mile drive the young owl was a very welcome sight. I feel like they are a treasured gift.
I hope this young owl makes you smile too.
Life is good.
Mia
I always imagine them standing like humans with their arms behind their backs. Cute pose
