Sunset with some birds at Fort De Soto
Sunsets and sunrises have always been special to me, even more so when I am out in nature.
Waking before the sun comes up and finding a quiet place to watch the sun creep over the horizon gives me hope, fills me with peace and a yearning desire to find out what wonders the day will bring me. Whether that is being out photographing birds, sharing the days with friends or spending it alone with my thoughts, it is all good.
Sunsets might signal the end of the day for some but even when the darkness falls I still feel the hope, the peace and desire at that time of what the next day will bring.

I feel worried for the future and I am filled with angst right now and I know I am not alone. However; I do know that even when times are difficult life is good. The sun rises after every sunset. Always.
I find comfort in that simple fact.

Mia, the fabric of our lives is strong–part of the fabric of my daily life is your wonderful photography. You have built a community of people who care for you and your passion and your work even though you don’t know us. We will not go away–hopefully you can find some solace and strength in these thoughts. And thank you SO MUCH for what you give us!
HI honey! I have worried about the future my whole life? As you know it is said one door closes and another opens!! We lost your Daddy when you were 3-1/2 and we survived! We travel to Germany 3 times and times were not good over there! We lost the house we were renting in Hawiia1969! Moved back to Michigan in a blizzard and made it! I remarried a wonderful Man my 3rd. But he was the love of my life and soul mate and you loved him dearly! So some special Spirit was always there to lift me up and ! And say it has to get better your at the bottom of the barrel and the only way is up! Even if your tears fill it up so you can get up to the top again! Yes I say that for each Moring sunrise and the sunsets I am very grateful!1 Love to All mom
Snap. And the beauty of the dawn gives me hope, and the sunset respite.
Wonderful photos and thoughts. We need encouragement and hope these days. Thanks, Mia!
My daughter often says humans are parasites on the earth and one day it will shake us all off.
No, you are not alone. I’m about to buy a house far from the concerns of humanity and hope that they won’t encroach on my life with any regularity…and I know they will, but watching the sun rise and set will give me comfort. That, and I’m old now. Sigh…I can’t imagine the impacts on those who are now young.
Since 11/8 I’ve had waves of anger followed by sadness followed by fear – for the environment, for women and children, the disabled, and for people of every ethnicity… on 11/9 monthly donations were set up for planned parenthood and the ACLU. I need to add an environmental group to that – NRDC or Center for Biological Diversity?
Angst is building in me too. As someone said the other day, Trump’s cabinet appointments are like foxes guarding the henhouse. Yes the world will go on and the wonders and beauty of nature ease the mind but I hope we will support the many conservation and legal groups that will fight for our values.
Uneasy since
Feeling the same way…but nature can heal us…
Thank you.
Beautiful images, Mia. Reflective thoughts.
We feel the uncertainty even in Canada. It makes me want to stay more connected to nature. And you photos certainly help!
Thank you for sharing not only your beautiful images but your very heartfelt thought as well!
Many of us – my entire circle of friends and family — feel the same! I appreciate your photos and thoughts even more these days!
