Bananaquit in Bougainvillea – Nikon D200, handheld, f8, 1/640, ISO 250, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light
I’ve struggled with my internet connection issues again this morning so I will make this a brief post instead of the longer one I had planned.
In March of 2009 I spent half a day on Half Moon Cay which is a tiny, beautiful island in the Atlantic Ocean. The birds there were wonderful and I wish I could have spent a couple of days photographing them because the time I did have with them just wasn’t enough.
Bananaquits seemed to be everywhere and they easily outnumbered all the other birds I saw. They were a bit on the skittish side though so when I caught them out in the open I quickly took images of them. I was especially pleased when I found this Bananaquit perched on a colorful Bougainvillea in decent light for a few frames.
Sorry this is short, I grew tired of fighting to stay on line.
Life is good.

Nice introduction to this beauty. Sorry to hear about the internet connection issues.
Another bird which is completely new to me. Thank you.
What a beautiful image! Both the bird and the bouganvillea!!! Makes me homesick for Florida again.
Beautiful photo, Mia.
Short but sweet……beautiful bird.
