Sleeping Willet – Nikon D200, handheld, f7.1, 1/640, ISO 200, Nikkor 70-300mm VR at 300mm, natural light
I know this image sort of breaks the rules of bird photography because the eyes of my subject are closed but personally I don’t mind that they are. Sometimes the rules are made to be broken.
This sleeping Willet image remains one of my favorite images because it was so comfortable in my presence that it fell asleep. I was honored.
Life is good.

Who wants to live by the rules? lol. Love this!
Honoured indeed.
A wonderful photograph and a testament to your technique and patience.
(there are “rules”??? uh-oh.)
Beautiful and calming.
I LOVE IT!!! That is such a soothing, serene image to start the day with. I can almost feel the gentle warmth of the morning sun, hear the soft slap of tiny ripples and wavelets nearby, smell the salty air, feel cool, damp sand squish up between my toes…..
Beautiful image Mia. So natural looking.
It is definitely a “one with Nature” photos. Serene!
