Stormy Sky over the Gulf of Mexico – Nikon D200, f5.6, 1/1000, ISO 400, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 80mm, natural light
I love to watch the sky. I look for different cloud formations and I adore seeing the multitude of colors in the clouds when the sun rises and sets.
One August morning in 2008 when I was at Fort De Soto to photograph birds I couldn’t resist taking a few images of storm clouds hanging over the Gulf of Mexico. This is one of those images.
It is simple but it reminds me off a wonderful morning spent on the beach. When I photographed birds at Fort De Soto I was always there before the sun rose, I would find a spot near where I could see or hear birds and sit down to watch the sun come up.
It felt so peaceful and serene and was a great way to start the day. Birds aren’t the only reason I go out to photograph, being in nature is a large part of it too.
Life is good.

Literal storm clouds are incredibly beautiful. The metaphoric ones scare me.
Gorgeous!
OH! WOW!!!!!!
Beautiful image, Mia.
