Targhee National Forest Red-tailed Hawk juvenile – Nikon D810, f6.3, 1/4000, ISO 800, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light, not baited
The Targhee National Forest is a wonderful place to find and photograph birds and wildlife including this Red-tailed Hawk juvenile in flight. This image was taken earlier this month on a day where the sunlight was sparse but the clouds weren’t which is why I was shooting with a higher than my normal ISO. This juvenile Red-tailed Hawk had just taken off from a stand of aspens and not long after this image was taken a male Northern Harrier and this young hawk had an aerial battle in the sky. Both birds flew off from the battle seemingly unharmed.
I wanted to wish all you dads out there a Happy Father’s Day. I hope it is a great day for you all.
I was lucky to have had two dads, both of them were wonderful and I miss them dearly.
Life is good.
