Pair of Sandhill Cranes in Wayne County, Utah (male on the left, female on the right) – Nikon D810, f9, 1/1600, ISO 500, +0.3 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
My life is great whenever I can photograph a pair of Sandhill Cranes wherever I find them and yesterday I had these beauties in my viewfinder. These cranes were feeding in a farmer’s field not too far away a dirt lane with other cranes further out in the field although they were too distant though to get high quality images of.
Earlier I had seen cranes displaying but these two didn’t put on a show. I wish they had. Or maybe they did after we left them and went in search of other birds. The things that birds do after we leave them are probably very interesting!
Life is good.

Such beauties.
I can never forget the sight of a small flock of these beauties standing in the middle of a bumpy back road in Nebraska, close to the Pine Ridge Rez border–rising up like a cloud before us, then flying in a circle right over our heads! Pure magic!!! In fact, everything I saw that day was magic…..
They are so beautiful as are you images.
Oh, beautiful image Mia. Spring behavior in nature is always interesting.
Pair of Kestrels mating here two days ago. Crazy spring hormones on display..!
