A landing juvenile Lark Sparrow – Nikon D810, f10, 1/2000, ISO 500, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
I don’t often have the opportunity to photograph young Lark Sparrows so I jumped at the chance last Saturday when I saw this one on Antelope Island State Park. The juvenile Lark Sparrow was near an adult and when it took off and flew a few feet then as it landed I captured this image.
A side note, this image was taken at an area near the park headquarters where natural and man made items are… let’s say dumped… which isn’t as scenic as the rest of the island is but even so it is a lesson that I learned some time ago about looking for beauty in unexpected places.
Life is good.

What an adorable photo!
Beautiful landing shot! Almost like a Japanese woodblock print.
Beauty is everywhere for those with open eyes, heart and mind. Thanks for this example.
WOW MIA, WHAT A SWEET SHOT!!!! ;-)))
Nice portrait! The colors almost make it look like it has been sepia tinted, or it was black and white with a little color tint. An interesting effect.
