American White Pelican feeding at Bear River NWR – Nikon D810, f9, 1/3200, ISO 500, -0.3 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
Every once in a while I find myself attracted to an image not just because of the subject but also because of reflections and this American White Pelican image is one of those. I think the attraction in this case is because the subject appears easily recognizable and the reflection combined with the dark water looks surreal. Van Gogh could have painted the reflection.
Life is good.

Hi! Love this photo! Great work! Have a special day!
Thanks Patty, I came up with a bunch of artists in my mind but I am ever so fond of Van Gogh!
I’d have voted for Picasso…or maybe Jackson Pollack…or Mia McPherson. Anyway, this a beautiful, unusual image. The light on dark and the reflection make a wonderful harmony….
Thank you EC, Roger and Catherine!
Dali could have painted that reflection too. Though the colours would have shifted.
Love this image. Thank you.
Yes Mia, “life is good,” and your beautiful images make it even better… ;-)))
Sublime image!
