A Red-tailed Hawk just after lift off – Nikon D810, f6.3, 1/2000, ISO 400, +0.7 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light, not baited
This Red-tailed Hawk image was taken last week in the Centennial Valley of Montana just after the hawk lifted off from a power pole. I wish there had been mountains or fluffy white clouds in the background but it was taken on a morning when there were absolutely no clouds in the sky. I also wish that the right wing wasn’t hidden by the hawk’s body.
Life is good.

if wishes were horses…it is a great, natural shot!
LOVE those britches.
Look at those talons and be very, very thankful you’re not a vole!!!
It’s a beautiful photo, Mia. Like all your photos.
