There is something about waking up in the wilderness that I find extremely satisfying, relaxing and peaceful. I can certainly understand Steve McQueen’s quote because there are times I feel the same way.
In the city I wake up to the sounds of the neighbors barking dog, the rumble of trash trucks, distant sirens and the sounds of cars on asphalt roads.
When I am in the wilderness I wake to coyotes singing, cranes trumpeting and the breeze rustling through the grasses or the trees. I awaken to beautiful skies as dawn slowly creeps over the horizon.
The wilderness wakens more than my body, it awakens my mind, my spirit and my creativity.
Life is good.

Nowhere is a beautiful place to be and first light is always the best time to be there!

That quote and your comment, especially your comment, say it all….
I no longer camp either but have wonderful memories of when I did. I had to check if this was the actor you quoted and found another one of his I like: “I’m out of the Midwest. It was a good place to come from. It gives you a sense of right or wrong and fairness, which is lacking in our society.”
Love the photo! reminds me of our days camping years ago! I miss the sounds very much! Have a special day!
I am about to take a week off after Thursday and refresh my spirit and shoot photos. This is perfect.
i totally agree. Great Photo.
I don’t camp, but I sure get this quote. Love the photo, too.
Absolutely gorgeous! Wonderful photo for a cold, rainy, drab day here.
It’s beautiful Mia.
