A Fluffy male Horned Lark – Nikon D810, f9, 1/1000, ISO 400, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light
Three days ago I didn’t just have fun with Coyotes on Antelope Island State Park I also had fun with this fluffy male Horned Lark. The Horned Larks were singing like it was spring as many of the birds seem to be doing right now, they are a bit early. I enjoy the songs of Horned Larks any time of the year though so I listened while I photographed this one as it preened and fluffed. I haven’t been seeing many females but I am sure I will before long.
I was on the island this morning but wasn’t able to photograph any birds, they were just too far away. Another day…
Life is good.

Sorry about not publishing a post yesterday, I was having server issues and couldn’t upload images.
Glad you are back on-line. I love the muted colors of the image. Wish I had more chances to hear them sing.
Welcome back – and that you for arriving with gifts. Again.
Nice image Mia. Still chilly enough to fluff up but does seem like an early spring, complete with bird songs. I heard a male house-finch the other day singing away.
Wonderful!!!
