American Bison Bull – Nikon D300, f7.1, 1/320, ISO 400, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 200mm, natural light
There are some images that I like just because I find them funny and this American Bison bull photo taken on Antelope Island State Park is one of those. I was photographing the bull two days ago when he started to scratch himself with his left hind hoof.
A few captions floated around in my mind as I looked at this image on my monitor such as “Open mouth, insert hoof” and “What did I step in?”. I’m sure you can think of more.
Being outside in nature is healing and it can also bring laughter too. I can’t tell you how many times I have been photographing and laughing at the same time.
Have a wonderful day.
Mia
I usually get a laugh when the animals are being themselves and trying to scratch an itch.Must plan a field trip myself soon.
Hi Mia,
A friend of mine, Willy, posted your link to me because he knows I love visiting your American West. Actually I’ve been to Antelope Island a few years ago on my way back from Yellowstone, flying from Las Vegas or LA can’t remember. Salt Lake city was on the way and I took the opportunity to spend a great day there. I’m very happy to share your pictures, hope you’ll enjoy mine! Take care,
François
I am amazed at his agility. His girth exceeds mine (just) and I would be base over apex in seconds flat if I attempted that move.
Great image to start my morning on – thank you Mia.
Ha! I posted a Bison photo today too, for linking up with Eileen’s Saturday Critters. I took my photo over at Ft. Peck a couple years ago. They are impressive beasts.
Do you know how hard it is to scratch my chin? But, damn this itch is driving me crazy!!
Great shot Mia, thanks for sharing!!
