Female Ruddy Duck shaking – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/2000, ISO 640, +0.3 EV, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, natural light
Some times when I open a photo I took I can’t help but laugh for various reasons, in this case when I opened the file the pose of this Ruddy Duck female just “quacked” me up. The duck had been resting on the shelf of ice next to the water and when she stood up she shook her whole body and I just happened to catch her with her bill pointed towards the sky.
Maybe it is just me but I half expect this Ruddy Duck female to burst into song . Or yodel.
Life is good.

hahaha it make me laugth too, wonderfull attitude, thanks mia
It is a cute pose, great capture Mia! Have a happy weekend!
It made me laugh too – great timing!
Big, big smiles. And I vote for yodel. A yodelling duck would have the ornithologists in a twist wouldn’t it?
Mia–I hate to say this, but I think she’s laughing hysterically…..at YOU!!!
Oh I totally agree … she’s definitely doing the me-me-me-me-meeee thing to warm up the vocal chords!!!! Tooo cute!!!! I love it!!!!
I agree Mia. It’s very funny. Almost cartoon like. I feel the same when I photograph the pelicans especially when they are landing. I live on the coast and we have heaps of them to photograph.
HaHa! Great shot!
