Willow Canyons of the West Desert – Nikon D200, handheld, f16, 1/250, ISO 400, +0.7 EV, Nikkor 18-200mm at 18mm
I can’t resist taking images of mountains, deserts and the big skies over them especially when the cloud formations are interesting. Yesterday while in the West Desert in Tooele County the cirrus clouds appealed to me that fanned out over the Stansbury Mountains. The moon was about to set when I took this image and it is visible to the left of the clouds and just above the mountains.
The moon setting over the Stansbury Mountains – Nikon D200, handheld, f16, 1/640, ISO 400, Nikkor 18-200mm at 112mm
I zoomed in on the moon and the mountains in the distance for this image. Some of the snow that fell high on the Stansbury Mountains is still visible and it won’t be terribly long until there is quite a bit more.
Bird photography has been very slow for me of late but I always seem to find something in my viewfinder.
Life is good.

Yesterday I too was outside admiring the cirrus clouds overhead. That high pressure in the west sure has resulted in some beautiful weather lately. Clouds often fascinate me!
What a surreal and otherworldly place. Thank you.
Love the clouds in the first one and the moon in the second-the clouds are working for you here too. I love the colour that you get here.
Lovely shot of infinity!
I love to see these firmaments with mountains. Just recently I posted some vistas also, but without mountains. I love to photograph the amplitude of spaces probably because I was raised in a city with too many buildings.
A beautifully peaceful and serene vision!!!
Beautiful! I have a hard time getting moon shots.
I love the landscapes. It’s such magnificent country. Thanks for the treat!
