Great Blue Heron skimming across a lagoon – Nikon D200, handheld, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO 250, Nikkor 80-400mm at 400mm, natural light
This image has always cracked me up, I wonder if the Great Blue Heron even realized its toenails were dragging in the water.
I wanted to wish all of my readers a Happy Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for including the wonderful people I’ve met, talked to, emailed and had conversations with here on my blog because of my photography.
Life is good.

Terrific shot of one of my favorite models! Have a great Thanksgiving! -Wally
Thank you Wally!
Happy Thanksgiving, Mia. I am extremely thankful for your generous sharing of your marvelous photos. This photo and your comment reminds me of an observation a poet friend of mine made (she’s a quadriplegic living in Massachesetts who has become extremely aware of the wildlife in her area) that she often wondered the same thing. She has many brothers and sisters that have aided her observations and I’m often startled by her depth of knowledge. It seems to be something that is quite common. Have a great thanksgiving.
Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful comment Merrill.
Happy Holidays! My heron shots are NEVER as good as yours, but I’m working on it. Thankful today for you, my mentor!
Marge, you will get there.. practice, practice, practice! Thanks much for your comment.
