Tricolored Heron in sea foam – Nikon D200, handheld, f6.3, 1/2000, ISO 250, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 370mm, natural light
I photographed this Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor) a few years ago when I still lived in Florida. The heron was hunting on the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico when a wave came in and created the sea foam where the bird was standing. I like how some of the foam flew into the air around the heron.

I can smell the salt air! This is an incredible shot, Mia – love the little foam bubbles scattered around the upper parts of the image. The bird is really highlighted.
Marvelous image, Mia! Perfect in every dimension.
Another gorgeous photo Mia. The colors are gorgeous!
Mia I love this image too. The red egret and this tri colored heron, beautiful. Hope you have a wonderful time with your mom. Carol
Very nice, Mia. I also like the foam “bubbles” around the heron!
Great shot Mia, love all that foam!
Fantastic!
Nice one Mia.
Gosh, it is as if I am viewing that beautiful scene in person rather than looking at your photo. I am running out of adjectives to describe your amazing images, Mia. Outstanding shot of the gorgeous tricolor!
It looks like a painting that should be hanged on the wall.
The colors in this photo are stunning! Love the texture of the foam as well, especially the free floating particles!
Wonderful! I feel like I could reach out and touch him!!
Wonderful shot Mia. I have never seen one of these, a beautiful bird; and i love the sea in the background all stirred up
I love these, when they are juveniles their colors are very vibrant. I love this one with the breaking wave.
