I must admit I have a fondness for shorebirds, their beauty is a big part of why I became (am) addicted to bird photography.
Foraging Marbled Godwit – Nikon D200, handheld, f7.1, 1/750, ISO 200, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light
I love how peaceful this image is with the Marbled Godwit paying absolutely no attention to me as I sat very still in the warm waters of a tidal lagoon photographing it. I felt as though I had been personally invited to enjoy the scene before me. It felt intimate and enchanting.
I truly miss the beaches of Fort De Soto County Park and the wonderful feelings I had while photographing there.
Life is good.

The scene is very peaceful. I like the light and detail as well. I think I need to go to Florida every year, because the birds are so much more cooperative!
Julie, going to Florida every year would be delightful. Thank you.
This is so lovely Mia! I don’t see shorebirds are that often, and I’m often struck by the peacefulness and serenity of shorebird photos. Love the composition, the light, everything about the photo. 🙂
Thanks Linda. I find photographing shorebirds to be very peaceful and always hope that comes through in my images.
Truly stunning image!
Thank you Amila.
Beautiful capture Mia!
Thank you Tammy.
Beautiful Mia. There should be an ice cream flavor inspired by this bird’s plumage.
Laurence, I see butterscotch, caramel and chocolate colors in the plumage. Yeah, and ice cream flavor called Marbled Godwit would be awesome, I bet birders would love it!
I agree, your photo is one of quiet beauty..I love the shore birds and all the ducks, geese and swans. Great jot..anxious to see your photos from Montana..Have a great week end..
Thank you Syl, I love to convey quiet moments with my subjects.
That sense of being “personally invited” to enjoy the bird scene before us is very really and I have felt it on a number of occasions. Thanks for sharing your awesome talents Mia!
Thank you Robert, its that feeling of having been personally invited into a bird’s world awesome?
There’s that beautiful light I’ve come to know and love about your bird images. The bird is so beautiful and looks so serene. Carol
Thank you Carol, the morning I took that image felt very serene to me too.
