Many of my regular readers probably know that I have been having a great time the past month photographing Rough-legged Hawks and Prairie Falcons so I selected an image of a Prairie Falcon to post for my Friday Photos today.
Prairie Falcon (Falco mexicanus) in early morning light – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/400, ISO 640, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, natural light, not baited
I was thrilled to spot this young Prairie Falcon last week while it perched on this boulder in early morning light. There is something about that sweet, golden light that is very appealing to me when I am able to photograph bird’s in the rays of the rising sun.
Life is good.

You already said it-Sweet Light! Very nice (as always) set of photos the last few days. I really like the feather detail in your images.
Thank you very much for your comment Julie!
Clear, crisp shot. One of my favorites, but unfortunately I’ve seen only a few. Merry Christmas, Mia.
Thanks Ron, I have been having a blast photographing Prairie Falcons lately.
Miss ya, I hope that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
Very nice, that warm soft light really adds to the image, I also like the reverse head turn over the back look.
Jim
Jim, I like the over the shoulder look too!

Thank you Dan, we have such beautiful subjects, don’t we?
Very nice photo Mia, taking photos in the early morning light is always fun.
Thanks Prairie Birder, the light was great fun and so was finding the falcon again!
