Cervus canadensis

Elk are large members of the deer family that are also called Wapiti. Male Elk have large antlers that can grow as much as four feet above their heads. Female Elk do not have antlers.

Shedding Elk High In The Wasatch Mountains

I was pretty excited to spot a small herd of cow and yearling Elk grazing on a steep slope in a canyon high in the Wasatch Mountains this past Sunday.

I had a spectacular morning yesterday high up in the Wasatch Mountains and among the highlights of the day was a herd of cow Elk moving down a hillside just before 9 o'clock.

The truly dumb animals are the people who install high fences on private property to cage large game animals inside and then for enormous fees encourage and allow other dumb animals to shoot captive animals and call it hunting.
